Although meant for non-birders, the hilarious-looking Vulturine, Guinea-fowl, Ostrich, and Secretary Bird will always cause some obstructions along the way. We will look at big as well as small mammals and watch the hippos from a boat ride in Lake Naivasha is always a wild thrill. The tour covers Mt. Kenya National Park, Samburu/Buffalo Springs National Reserves, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Naivasha & the vast Masai Mara National Reserve.
Kenya Wildlife Tour - 11 Days
Arrive early in the morning at Nairobi’s JKI Airport or be picked up early in the morning from your hotel and transfer to Samburu National Reserve. Driving through the central highlands comprising of small-scale farms, large tracks of pineapple, and coffee plantations. Lunch along the way at a special trout fish- serving restaurant.

Arrive at our lodge in the early afternoon. with a welcome refreshment and later leaving for our afternoon game drive.
We’ll spend the next 3 nights here and the game drive should take us through at least two of the three famous national reserves namely Samburu, Buffalo Springs & Shaba

Big Game here includes species well restricted to the arid conditions and some to the north of equator such as Gravy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk among large herds of Elephants, Impalas, Grant’s and Thompson’s Gazelles. The comical-looking Vulturine Guineafowl is a species we hope not to miss. The Samburu tribesmen (closely resembling and sharing the Maa language with Masai) inhabits the area and a visit to their homestead is worth it.

After morning breakfast game drive through the reserve en-route to Mt Kenya National Park. Picnic lunch on the morrland and later trekking on the vegetation above 3000M ASL.

Overnight at Naro Moru River Lodge
Today we transfer across the Solio Plains and later descending to the Great Rift Valley via the Subukia Escarpment and along the dormant Menengai Crater to reach the flamingo famous Lake Nakuru National Park. Lunch along the way before entering the park. The park hosts a great variety of mammals including the Lion, Leopard, Black & White Rhinos, large herds of Cape Buffalo, Common Waterbuck among other herbivores. The lodge where we stay is located in the hills.

After breakfast, spend the early morning hours in the park game viewing till mid day. Lunch in the lodge before leaving for Lake Naivasha, one of the two freshwater lakes along the rift valley. A boat ride on the lake gives us opportunities for closer shots of some waterfowls such as the Great White Pelican, Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle among the gulls.
Overnight at Elsamere Centre
After breakfast, we will take a morning walk at the lodge before leaving for Masai Mara National Reserve famous for the over 1.5 million wildebeest migration. We spend our next 3 nights in the central part of the reserve and closer to the banks of the Mara River in a private mobile-tented camp that reminds you of the old days’ safaris.

In the camp’s forest, a flock of both the Shallow’s and Ross’ Turacos may appear and herds of large mammals may be well visible from the dining area. During the famous Wildebeest migration, the big herds fill the area and you may frequently encounter large cats such as Lions, Hyenas, and Cheetah.

We take an early morning breakfast and game drive before leaving back for Nairobi and visiting a local Masai cultural homestead before descending the Rift Valley’s western and ascending the Eastern escarpments.
Overnight at Silver Springs Hotel
After breakfast leisurely visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and spend time with the little elephants, visit the Giraffe Centre and a women-run Kazuri Beads Factory and tour the factory as they make beads. In the evening or depending on your international flight we visit Nairobi’s Restaurants for dinner and transfer to the airport for your outbound flight.
