Uganda Birding Tour- 25 Days
Our first day of this epic Uganda Birding Tour is an early morning boat launch on a nearby Mabamba Swamp famous for the fossil-living Shoebill. Other birds may include Lesser Jacana, African Marsh Harrier, Red-chested Sunbird, Swamp Flycatcher, Yellow-backed Weaver, Blue-headed Coucal, Northern Brown-throated Weaver.

We will track the Mountain Gorillas here if not Rihija.
Overnight at Egangi Lodge
Leave Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha sector arriving in the late afternoon. This Uganda Bird Tour may produce a Cassin’s Grey Flycatcher on our way to the lodge.
Other birds may include Brown Snake Eagle, Wahlberg’s Eagle, Long-crested Eagle, African Crake, Little Bee-eater, Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird, Spot-flanked Barbets, White-headed Barbet, Double-toothed Barbet, Flappet Lark, Sooty Chats, Brown-backed Scrub-Robin, Winding Cisticola, Swamp flycatcher, Chin-spot Batis, Scarlet-chested Sunbird, Red-chested Sunbird, Black-headed Gonolek, Black-crowned Tchagra, Fork-tailed Drongo, Fan-tailed Widowbird, Red-billed Firefinch, Golden-breasted Bunting.
Mammals may include African Elephant, Waterbuck, Topi, Uganda Kob, Cape Buffalo, Common Warthog and the majestic Forest Hog.

Game drive and birding in the park and later in the afternoon our Uganda Birding Tour takes us birding from a boat launch on the Kazinga Channel. During the launch trip we may see a variety of wildlife, huge schools of hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birdlife from a boat for two hours. Sometimes the African Skimmer may be seen in big numbers.
Green-backed Heron, Storks, African Spoonbill, Martial Eagle, Kittlitz’s Plover, Senegal Lapwing, African Wattled Lapwing, Yellow-throated Longclaw among other birds seen.
Look out for mammals like Uganda Kob, Cape Bushbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Cape Buffalo, African Elephant, Common Warthog, when lucky a leopard, spotted Hyena and Lion among others.

After breakfast and set off for a game drive/birding heading towards Kibale. Look out for birds like African White-backed Vulture, Lizard Buzzard, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater, White-browed Robin-Chat, Lesser Striped Swallow, Rufous-napped Lark, Flappet Lark, Yellow-throated Longclaw, Zitting Cisticola, African Blue Flycatcher, Babblers, Brown-backed Scrub-robin, Sooty Chat, Black-headed Gonolek, Grey-backed Shrike, Common Fiscal, Starlings, Pied Crow, Piapiac, Fork-tailed Drongo, Weavers, Widowbirds among others.

This is the main park we’ll be looking for Green-breasted Pitta among others like White-tailed Ant Thrush, Speckled Tinkerbird, Buff-throated Apalis, Little Greenbul, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Black Bee-eater, Sabine’s Spinetail, Grey Parrot, White-breasted Nigrofinch, Yellow-spotted Barbet. While here we will visit the Bigodi Swamp in the afternoon and birds such as the White-winged Swamp Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek and we hope to come across a Red Colobus Monkey.
